Kumusha Homeware is a small UK-based company solely focused on designing beautiful, ethical, and sustainable homeware inspired by Africa. ‘Kumusha’ means rural or ancestral home in Shona, one of the official languages of Zimbabwe, and the small touches that make a house a home is what Kumusha Homeware is all about. Their first range, a collection of luxury scented candles, was launched in June 2020.
Claire, Kumusha’s founder, was born and raised in Africa and is deeply passionate about the continent: “Few places capture your imagination like Africa, from the diverse colours and cultures of urban art, to the sights, sounds, and tranquillity of the wild savannah. We hope to share some of that magic through our products.”
Kumusha Homeware prides itself on producing high-quality rather than high-quantity products. All of their products are bespoke and are created by working with the best independent producers and suppliers to bring their original designs to life. The result is a small-batch, high-quality range of products that are ethically-sourced, have a low carbon footprint, use recycled, recyclable and organic raw materials wherever possible, and avoid single use plastics. Kumusha’s commitment to quality means that they will only release new products when they are absolutely confident that you will love them.
Kumusha Homeware’s range of luxury candles are made with 100% soy wax making them renewable, sustainable, biodegradable, and more environmentally friendly than paraffin candles. The use of soy wax makes them suitable for vegans, and ensures faster scent dispersion, a longer, cleaner burn, and a cooler, safer burning temperature. The candles are available in three scents, inspired by iconic African botanicals and come beautifully packaged, making them the perfect treat for yourself or someone special.
