Christ College Brecon

Situated within the Brecon Beacons National Park, Christ College is an independent co-educational boarding and day school. Founded by Henry VIII in 1541, the college is one of the oldest schools in Wales and educates and nurtures around 350 pupils annually between the ages of seven and 18.

The institution consistently achieves excellent results at A level and GCSE. Over the past three years, 43% of A level grades were A* or A and 87% grade A to C. Over the same period, 46% of GCSE results were grades 9 to 7. This strong track record, which is testament to the quality of the teaching and learning experiences the school offers, has enabled the majority of Christ College pupils to progress on to their first choice of course and university.

Setting it apart from other educational facilities, Christ College prides itself on its exclusive learning community, where the school becomes a second-home and pupils and faculty become family. Its second curriculum, which complements academic study and contributes to pupils’ skills and character development, includes music, creative and performing arts and an excellent sport and outdoor pursuit provision including its own outdoor education programme as well as the Duke of Edinburgh Award and Combined Cadet Force. Pupils have access to a high calibre coaching team, a range of facilities including modern fitness suite, astroturf pitch, hard tennis courts, indoor sports hall, 25m swimming pool, and utilise the nearby Brecon Beacons for activities such as kayaking, rock climbing, and mountain biking.

“One of the best value schools in the UK, where the fees comprise almost everything and extras are limited” Good Schools Guide 2020

“Again and again we heard the words ‘family’ and ‘community’ . This is a small school that caters for everyone.” Good Schools Guide 2020
