Infatuated with the story, it was at Shawfield Street that Walt Disney regularly visited to negotiate the purchase the rights to the story
After 14 years of denying his approaches, Travers eventually relented, selling the rights to Mary Poppins for €100,000 + 5% of the movie’s earnings
The house was recently featured in the movie Saving Mr Banks (2013) starring Emma Thompson as P.L. Travers and Tom Hanks as Walt Disney
