James, Earl of Wessex, Heads to University After A-Levels

As thousands of teenagers received their A-level results this month, one familiar young face was also waiting to discover what comes next.
James, Earl of Wessex, is the 18-year-old son of Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, and the youngest grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II. He recently completed his studies at Radley College in Oxfordshire.

Following his A-level results, James has secured his place at the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester, where he will study Rural Land and Property Management from September. His exact A-level grades have not been made public. The choice of course is perhaps unsurprising. During the summer, James gained practical experience working at King Charles's Sandringham Estate, including helping with agricultural work.

James's decision is an interesting reminder that there is no single definition of a successful university education. Rather than choosing a traditional academic subject, he has opted for a course closely connected to his interests in the countryside, land and agriculture.

James will also head straight to university rather than taking a gap year, beginning this new chapter in September.
