Creating designs from Scottish grown Elm, Robin Runciman, of Wildwood Scotland, has developed his own style for producing beautifully crafted furniture, wall art and sculptures. Robin designs, prepares and finishes every piece individually to a stunning level of quality. He works closely with clients to ensure each piece is unique, usually incorporating the live edge of the wood to achieve the synergy of bringing a little of the outdoors into the client's home.
Robin and his wife, Linda, welcome visitors to their home, just outside Lauder in the Scottish Borders, where they have an extensive display of Robin's beautiful work; a wide variety ranging from sculptures, wall art and an array of furniture, as can also be seen on the Wildwood Scotland website. Visitors can choose from these completed pieces or order their own bespoke piece; when Robin will work closely with clients from the design through to finish, ensuring every piece is completely unique and personal.
Always keen to allow the natural form to prompt the design, Robin created the Fjord dining table, with its inlaid flowing glass which enhances the wild, live edge of this beautiful wood. A silhouette of mountains, the view from a couple's home, was inlaid above the burr in the wood to capture and reflect the scene they love.
Robin's work has found its way to Australia, Canada and the USA as well as delighting many clients in the home market. Robin works hard to source his raw material from fallen timber to ensure a minimum impact on the environment. Keen to promote sustainability Wildwood Scotland is a member of Scottish Furniture Makers Association, Scottish Working Woods and the Association of Scottish Hardwood Saw-millers who guarantee that members use only home-grown Scottish timber.
