Marta’s work is intuitive, and she has a distinctive approach to the application of paint in her work  -   primarily acrylic  -  that incorporates multiple layers, strong bold lines, also scratching into the surface of the wet paint. Whether you’re looking for a striking piece of artwork to enhance a large wall-space, or smaller niche, Marta has a varied portfolio of works on canvas, paper and wood, framed and unframed, to suit your contemporary lifestyle.

Born in the UK, but having spent most of her life in the USA, Marta is a professional abstract artist who now lives and works in the English / Scottish Borders. Since returning to the UK she has exhibited at galleries from St. Ives, Cornwall to Edinburgh, the Scottish Borders and Fife.

This journey has evolved since Marta’s early fascination for drawing, then photography and, ultimately, to her love of painting. Owning her gallery in America and living in artistic communities were optimal in building effective relationships, and a complement to her burgeoning art career. Since her first solo exhibition in 2001 she has exhibited and sold work in both the US and UK.

Marta also maintains an open studio, allowing visitors to view her work and talk about art. She feels it important to challenge people’s way of thinking about the ambiguity of her work, and encourages them to explore and enhance their knowledge of non-representational art.
