Jessica Zoob is a British contemporary artist who works from her East Sussex studio. She exhibits regularly in London and has works in private collections worldwide.
“I work mainly with oil paint as it has exceptional properties: it gives colours solidity, lustre and depth, while its transparency makes wonderful glazes. I also use acrylic colour for its iridescence and metallic qualities, and its magical capacity to change or enhance overlying colours depending on the play of light on the picture, or the position of the viewer. Many of the paintings are created by a process of building up and scraping back layers of paint. I would probably describe my work as contemporary art or contemporary impressionism.”
In 2014 Jessica won an Elle Decoration Best British Design Award for her collaboration with ROMO black edition who skilfully recreated Jessica’s paintings for an exclusive collection of printed fabrics, wall coverings and fabrics.
Jessica's 2015 collection, Playtime, continued Jessica’s previous themes of exploration, adventure, passion and uncompromising joy. These are canvases that jump, sing and fizz with excitement. It is as if she is reminding us that if ever there were a need to rediscover our sense of play, it is now.
In her latest collection ‘Ecstasy’ she is painting the colours of happiness. Prepare to be enchanted!
"I was so fortunate to have met Jessica and to see her paintings, which are stunningly beautiful and unique. A photograph cannot do justice to her paintings. Abstracted and atmospheric, the textures and vitality of her paintings need to be seen to be appreciated.” – Mary Fox-Linton
