I follow the many signs leading me to Knox and arrive at the huge white and aqua building that is the Knox Design Store. The most stylish and contemporary garden furniture and accessories are arranged outside in the terrace area, full of promise of balmy al fresco Mediterranean evenings on top quality outdoor items. Upon stepping into the store, I am greeted cordially and asked if I am looking for something specific. I do actually want to give my tired old living room a makeover, but at this stage I am on the lookout for ideas. I am invited to wander about the store at leisure, which I am keen to do. I find the fragrant atmosphere and the background music incredibly soothing, offsetting the excitement I feel at the array of colours and displays I view before me. It is a treasure trove of colour and design.
I marvel at the audacious combinations of tones and trends, some of them very daring and bold, others more subtle and soft. Each space has its own unique special touch: a contemporary sofa in the softest Italian leather against the backdrop of a Missoni multi-coloured zigzag screen, all draped with cashmere and a scattering of teal cushions. By contrast, a whitewashed wooden dining table, exquisitely laid with a set of glazed ceramic dishes is the epitome of rustic luxury. One after the other, these expertly arranged ambiances showcase the best of the fabulous ranges of furniture and furnishings carried by Knox Design.
Here and there are objets d’art chosen for their originality and uniqueness, ready to become cherished centrepieces in the right home. I then pop into the fabric store, stocking the best range of fabrics and wallpapers from international collections, where I find out that I can have anything made to measure (blinds, curtains, cushions, rugs…) to suit my décor.
Feeling quite overwhelmed at the wealth of options at my fingertips, I take a seat in the comfortable coffee corner to savour delicious cappuccino. I have actually fallen in love with a particular console table, a matching mirror and a plush couch.
A very pleasant design consultant tells me that it can be upholstered with the fabric of my choice that the console table is available in two tones and the mirror can be sized to fit any space. I am provided with an estimate, offered a paid home consultation by qualified designer Justine Knox and I know I am in good hands. I came in search for inspiration and I will depart motivated, inspired and confident: I’ve had the Knox experience.
