Style Your Bed Like A Pro

12.08.21

Our bedroom should be our sanctuary, and this means we can make it look exactly how we dream of. Your bed isn’t only your most important piece of furniture, but it is also a great opportunity for you to show off your interior design talents, and create a space, reflecting your personality, that makes you feel calm, relaxed and content.

Although it takes a bit of practice, we can all agree that there is something very satisfying about a perfectly put-together bed, so we’ve put together our top tips to help you style your bed like a pro.

Start With A Solid Foundation

Making sure you start with the perfect foundation is very important, and we always recommend visiting one of our trusted retail partners to ensure you find your perfect Vispring mattress and bed, as, after all, we spend a third of our lives there.

When it comes to choosing the sheet for your bed, it is best to opt for a base layer that is 100% cotton or 100% linen. Opting for a natural sheet sets you up for a great night’s sleep as natural materials are soft and breathable. It is also important to consider the depth of your mattress, to avoid your sheet from riding up during the night.

The colour of your sheet depends on your personal taste and the mood that you wish to create in your bedroom. The pros usually choose a neutral colour as they’re often classic and versatile, and they also provide a good place for your eye to rest once you start layering other colours, prints, patterns, and textures.

Plump And Comfy Pillows

Choose the best quality plump pillows that you can find to dress your bed, as flat pillows not only look bad but also will not provide adequate support for your neck.

Match your first pillows (which will sit against your headboard) to your bottom sheet, and place them behind your day to day pillows (that match your duvet cover). When it comes to accent pillows, you can choose as many as you desire. We tend to gravitate towards 2 or 3 that match the tonal palette of our bed and/or bedroom.

Layer Up

For the ultimate in comfort and design, you should size up your duvet. So, if you have a king-size bed, use a super-king duvet. This can also be great for those who co-sleep, as it means less duvet-hogging. At Vispring, we take comfort very seriously, therefore, our duvets are luxuriously cosy, making you feel like you’re wrapped up in a cloud.

As the weather gets warmer, it can be a good option to swap your winter duvet out for a flat sheet made of 100% natural materials, to ensure it wicks away any moisture.

The Final Touches

A quilt or blanket will provide additional warmth through the winter months and is also a great chance for you to add more texture and mix up your colour palette. Regardless of the time of year, adding layers is key to having a styled bed that looks inviting and comfortable, whether your style is hotel-chic or relaxed and comfy. Matching the tone of the blanket to your duvet cover but mixing up the texture is a great way to build depth without being too contrasting. A quick tip to finish your bed off is to fold your duvet back by a third so you can show off all of your pillows and layers.

You can find Vispring’s bed collection across a network of 600 premium retailers in the U.K. and around the world. For more information and to find your nearest retailer please visit www.vispring.com.
