Richard Gere has sold his New Canaan, Connecticut home on 32 acres for $10.75 million.
Gere just bought the home two years ago from Paul Simon, but is planning a move to Spain where his wife, Alejandra Silva, is from. Gere paid $10.8 million for the new home.
The English country-style property has two homes—a five-bedroom main house built in 1938 by Harold R. Sleeper and a three-bedroom cottage, according to the listing from 2022.
Outdoor amenities include terraced patios, a pool and perennial gardens. The property also has woodland trails, a rock-rimmed brook, a natural pond and a waterfall.
Gere, 75, says that after living in the U.S. for the first six years of his marriage, the couple are packing up and moving to her home country of Spain.
“She was very generous in giving me six years living in my world, so I think it is only fair that I give her at least another six living in hers,” he adds.
Before his move to Connecticut, Gere had owned a home in the celebrity enclave of Pound Ridge, New York, which is about an hour from Manhattan. Gere sold his home there in May 2022 for $28 million, before buying the New Canaan property.
