With Autumn well underway, we all need some indoor entertainment, Abode2 is taking a look at luxurious screening rooms in residential buildings across The Big Apple.
As temperatures start to drop and we inch into the cooler months of the year, access to indoor amenities and entertainment options is increasingly valuable. Developers of luxury NYC condos continue to up the ante by incorporating luxe screening rooms and entertainment centres into their building's amenity offering, giving residents the option to forgo the local movie theatre or home television and instead enjoy new releases, classic films, popular shows and big sports games within a private, specially designed setting.
Furthermore, with state-of-the-art equipment and upscale design, residents can watch their favourite movies and shows through a viewing experience that exceeds movie-theatre quality audio/visual while being far more convenient and comfortable. Plus, many of these spaces are available for residents to reserve for private showings, providing the perfect entertainment on the long, cold, dark nights
We start our cinematic journey at an Abode2 favourite, 53 West 53.
With over 30,000 square feet of extraordinary amenities and deeply personalized five-star-hotel-level services, it's no surprise 53 West 53 — the striking, Jean Nouvel-designed residential tower above MoMA in Midtown — offers a private, state-of-the-art theatre exuding elegance and luxury from every angle. Renowned interior architect Thierry Despont, known for his iconic work on the Ritz in Paris and Claridge's in London, designed the residences and most of the shared spaces at 53 West 53, including the screening room. It features ambient lighting, rich finishes designed with a regal colour palette and a massive screen that makes each of the 18 plush, theatre-style inspired seats the absolute best in the house. Even after the movie ends, residents won't want to leave this private theatre that's as comfortable as it is elegant.

For the next showing, we head over to Front & York.
Designed inside and out by celebrated architect Morris Adjmi, Front & York is pioneering an unprecedented amenity-driven lifestyle in DUMBO. Elevating the standard of luxury living in the area, Front & York offers residents access to an astounding 150,000 square feet of amenity spaces, one of the most comprehensive offerings in New York City. Reminiscent of exclusive membership clubs, the development's luxurious rooftop amenity space consists of two amenity wings linked by a vibrantly landscaped wrap-around terrace. Ideal for get-togethers all year long, the plush outdoor screening lounge is warmed by integrated heat lanterns and a grand fireplace. Residents can bring their own popcorn and candy for a truly unique high-definition experience.

As our showstopping end, we visit Brooklyn Point.
No need to travel to a sports bar during football season, as Brooklyn Point — the tallest building in the borough you can live in — has you covered. This Downtown Brooklyn building offers the ultimate screening and performance room, making it the perfect place for residents and friends to gather and watch a game. Should it be warm outside, residents can take advantage of the outdoor movie screening space located on the building’s roof 680 feet above ground, also accompanied by the Western Hemisphere’s highest residential infinity pool, lounge chairs and al fresco dining areas.
