Holiday homes aren’t just a great way to escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, they also open up a world of adventure to explore. Red Paxton, director of Habitat First Group, tells Stephen Penn all about their Habitat Escapes rental programme
It’s a rare pleasure to be able to cycle through secret woodland and meadows rich in rare wildlife, or to swim through Dorset’s stunning waterways. Access to some of the UK’s finest natural sites is not always straightforward, but that is what Habitat First Group offer holidaymakers and weekend escapees.
With their Habitat Escapes rentals programme, what’s on offer is a rare and memorable holiday in premium self-catering accommodation set within beautiful natural surrounds. Their two sites, Lower Mill Estate and Silverlake, come complete with exclusive on-site spas and ample opportunities for outdoor activities.
Lower Mill Estate in the Cotswolds offers the opportunity to ramble through woodland, home to a protected colony of beavers, as well as enjoying more energetic days canoeing, kayaking, sailing and swimming in one of the eight lakes and two rivers located at the site. In total, the site covers several hundred acres which are open to be appreciated for their natural beauty.
The Silverlake site in Dorset offers holidaymakers the opportunity to explore the world famous 5-mile Jurassic Coast. As with Lower Mill Estate, the site is ideal for adventure junkies.
“There’s a world of adventure waiting to be discovered, a chance to experience a Swallows and Amazons lifestyle in a perfect, safe, secure natural playground for children of all ages,” says Red Paxton, director of Habitat First Group.
Both sites are also perfect as restful retreats with top-class spa facilities. Lower Mill has Europe’s first outdoor eco-pool as well as two 20m heated pools – one indoor and one outdoor. Also on site is a steam room, sauna, gym, a restful reading lounge and treatment room.
At Silverlake, the Hurricane Spa features an outdoor 20m heated pool, roof terrace, sauna and gym along with relaxation lounge and treatment rooms, where you can pamper and indulge yourself to your heart’s content.
All of this is available while staying in the individually designed, sustainably-built properties on-site. “The interiors are restful, elegant, and understated with modern kitchens and bathrooms, beautifully appointed bedrooms, expansive living rooms and cosy wood burners for winter months or when the nights close in,” adds Red.
