Located an hour from Lisbon, and boasting the longest white sandy beach in Europe, The Cork Tree Residences is the perfect blend of serenity and luxury. Julia Millen took a tour to discover what the residents can look forward to
The Cork Tree Residences will be Portugal’s most luxurious retirement village, located on a 30- hectare estate and within a stunning location with year-round sunshine. The village will welcome active foreign retirees and provide them with a home for life, regardless of how their physical or mental needs may change.
Sustainable living is at the heart of the innovative Cork Tree concept and the resort is entirely self-sufficient for its energy, water and fresh organic food. With the team behind the project ensuring it remains safe, secure and operational, regardless of any external global events, including political, health or climate change factors, the team have put in place resources and infrastructure to respond quickly, should the need arise.
Cork Tree Residences will be home to just 40 fully detached, two-bedroom villas with 4 different build styles for clients to choose from. Each villa enjoys two covered outside porches and a private, landscaped garden. All homes will have an energy certificate rating of A.
Residents will have access to a range of activities, including gardening, sailing, golf, tennis, hiking, cultural activity courses and shopping. The main central services building will include a restaurant, bars, a multilingual library, health and fitness studios, a spa with treatment rooms, cinema, hair and beauty salon, and a mini supermarket.
There will also be a medical centre, nurses’ office and supported living bedrooms with private bathrooms for residents who need more intensive nursing care. The resident nurse will be available 24/7 and a doctor will attend the centre weekly and remain on-call 24 hour a day, 7 days a week.
External areas will include tennis courts, stables, a croquet pitch, a heated pool, a jogging track, gardens and rest areas, exercise machines and a non-denominational chapel.
Comporta is located just 60 minutes from Lisbon, offering easy access to shopping, sightseeing, restaurants and all the trappings of a cosmopolitan lifestyle that Portugal’s capital provides.
