Beloved waterfront development, The Copper, has just listed one of the most enviable penthouses on the market in New York City, on the 48th floor of the West tower, renting for a cool $25,813 per month. Abode2 takes a tour
The Copper is a beautiful union of design, function, and character built for the future. The Copper gets its name from the chosen material of the architects and builders. They decided to break out of traditional and expected glass facade to give it character that will evolve and change with NYC.
An ode to the city itself, the copper material is the same as was used for the Statue of Liberty and other iconic NYC landmarks. It may not seem like it now, but over time, The Copper will transition from bright and shiny into a darker brown finish and finally to a green patina.
Along with the richness and patina of the copper, the facade’s texture and variation accentuates the form of the buildings, which appear to dancing with each other. The towers comprise over 5,000 staggered panels and 4,592 windows. The Skybridge holds it all together in a solid embrace.
Underlying beauty, there is power. The copper composite has a fire-retardant core layer and a stainless-steel backing. The facade system is a unitized aluminium frame mounted to the buildings’ slab edges.
The future-leaning philosophy is brought to life with copper. Ayumi Sugiyama, director of cultural projects at SHoP Architects said, “We love our ‘live’ materials at SHoP, using metals that continue to oxidize and have an evolving appearance and where the oxidation of the material protects or preserves itself.”
This stunning penthouse features unobstructed Downtown and East River views with south/east exposures, made even more dramatic from the floor-to-ceiling windows span the 9'7" ceiling heights, framing the sweeping views.
The interiors, designed by SHoP architects, boast custom oak floors, Miele appliances and a Statuary marble countertop and backsplash make up the luxurious kitchen, along with a SHoP-designed custom island. There is also custom lighting throughout the home. The Primary Bath is decadently adorned with a Statuary marble wall tile set in herringbone pattern, with a Crocodile marble slab accent shower wall, Rain showerhead and Black pearl stone floor tile.
Although you might never want to leave this apartment, The Copper is also known for it's insane amenity package which includes the Skybridge connecting the two tours that houses a 75’ Skybridge lap pool & whirlpool, lounge, bar, Chef’s catering kitchen, Juice Press health bar, Children’s playroom and Empire studio. For the wellness lovers, the Copper Tone spa offers a Marble Hammam with plunge pool, Private spa and treatment rooms, Double-height fitness centre with climbing wall overlooking city skyline, Yoga and Pilates studio, Dynamic-energy studio and Private locker rooms. As if that wasn't enough, there is also AYRE, the Landscaped rooftop with infinity pool and outdoor shower, Sky bar and open-air lounge, Rooftop dining and grilling, which residents can purchase a membership to.
