The founder and designer Malina Catoiu replicates her scarves designs from her original photos by translating the essence of nature and urban impressions into the delightful, bright and memorable fashion accessory gifts. Each photo of her choice becomes wearable art. Each pattern starts its life as a copy of the original photo that is refined and transformed through the magic of the digital tools to produce a first mock up. First steps in this process are for the design, selecting the themes and the range of colors. She puts a lot of thought and consideration when creating the drafts and the topics are set on seasons, artistic nature inspired, urban and street style. She uses her own photos to create patterns and it takes up to several weeks to work on an initial draft; selecting the perfect one is not always easy. She believes in the timeless beauty of nature that puts in a different perspective her own designs. Beauty stays in the details and for a touch of flair, she plays with color variations and sometimes a dull gray can turn into a surprising yellow gold. Imagination and freedom of creation are her best friends.

The inspiration of her urban patterns comes from her travels from the Cycladic layout, the medieval era, Venetian mansions, Neoclassical and modern architecture. While her inspiration of her summer models comes from the seaside showcasing deep blue sea waters, beach features and sea shells.

Once she has the digital patterns done she thinks of the type of material that best fits the pattern and model. She prefers to work with natural silk however you may find some items in modal textile too.

For each scarf there is a lot of care and attention given from the start of the design to the finish in production, quality checks are performed along all the process. Each pattern is printed in very small batches on high quality natural silk or modal textile and packaged by hand.  Creative imagination and designs, skillful hands and craft-work, all these complex processes have to be in harmony to create these wonderful products. Each of the scarves is named based on the context where the photo was taken.

In Malina’s view, silk scarves are special. It is like having a long term relationship with them; she thinks of them as intemporal, endless accessories and nevertheless special gifts for Christmas or New Year’s Eve.
