Equiom Group’s twin track growth strategy has led to expansion both geographically and in terms of expertise. One of the jurisdictions in which it operates has perfectly demonstrated how this strategy works in practice. Recently awarded Best International Trust Company by Acquisition International, Equiom (Guernsey) Limited has been able to access the US market and more recently appointed key members of staff to its senior team. Caroline Prow, Managing Director at Equiom in Guernsey talks about the business, its strengths and its plans for the future.
At Equiom, we are constantly reviewing and improving our offerings to ensure we meet clients’ evolving needs. We believe it is this flexibility, combined with our multi-jurisdictional reach and deep understanding of our clients’ diverse ranges of businesses and tax challenges that has enabled us to expand beyond trusts, foundations and corporate services. We have gone further to provide sought-after specialist services including real estate, yachting and crewing solutions and employee incentive schemes.
In Guernsey, we leverage off a highly regulated and well-regarded international financial centre to attract the best talent and continuously seek opportunities to diversify our offering. For example, a member of our local team is one of only 48 people worldwide to hold a STEP Certificate in Foundations. This expertise has helped us to attract new clients and gives us the potential to become a leading provider of foundations.
Earlier this year we were proud to launch Equiom Private Office, a new premium service designed to meet the ever-changing needs of ultra-high net worth individuals and international businesses. Two of Guernsey’s directors are part of the Private Office team. They are able to advise on a number of key areas including trusts, company services, yachting, real estate and crewing as well as tap into a global network of experts, in order to cater to this discerning market.
In 2017, Equiom acquired Virtus Trust Group in Guernsey. This provided us with a stronger presence in the region as well as a competitive advantage due to the US trustee licence Virtus held. As we continue to seek new opportunities for expansion both in Guernsey and further afield, the Group’s ultimate aim is to become the trusted and premier professional services provider of choice in each of the jurisdictions in which we operate.
In Guernsey, our strategy is to strengthen our partnerships with clients and intermediaries across the globe, ultimately attracting more business to the Island. We have made considerable progress over the past few years, acquiring new talent both locally and through our global network of experts.
At a pivotal time for the financial services industry as a whole, we continue to diversify our service offerings to adapt to political and regulatory challenges and developments. With a strong team and access to global expertise, Equiom in Guernsey is in pole position for growth.
