Eager For Eurovision

Fans of the Eurovision song contest, a British family, have purchased a spectacular £570,000 two-bedroom 1,625 square foot penthouse on the top floor of Liverpool’s Grade II listed Victorian Tobacco Warehouse, by developer Stanley Dock Properties, providing them with a spectacular party pad in advance of the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest which is being held on the 13th May 2023 at the Liverpool M&S Bank Arena at King’s Dock.

Just a 20-minute stroll from Tobacco Warehouse, the Liverpool M&S Bank Arena has a capacity to host 11,000 people for music events with the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest consisting of two semi-finals on the 9th and 11th May and the final on the 13th May 2023.

Logic Estate Agents, selling agents for Tobacco Warehouse, reveal that in addition to the penthouse sale – a price record for a new home penthouse on Liverpool waterfront – since the announcement of Liverpool as the host for the 2023 Eurovision song contest, there has been a noticeable 10% uplift in reservations and 15% increase in enquiries at Tobacco Warehouse.

Nick Goldsworthy, Director & Co-Owner of Logic Estate Agents says: “Thanks to the wonderful people of Ukraine and the special relationship between the Ukraine and the UK, Liverpool will be hosting the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of Ukraine. The City and people of Liverpool are so proud to be able to do this for the truly inspirational President Zelenskyy and his noble people and we know the eyes of the world will be on Liverpool on the 13th May to celebrate Ukraine, music and the values of democracy, liberty, peace and friendship.”

Nick Goldsworthy adds: “Since the announcement that Liverpool will host the unique Ukraine-UK 2023 event the impact on the Liverpool economic has been significant with hotel room bookings up, internet searches for the Liverpool up, and short-let lettings and sales reservations and enquiries for homes in the city also noticeably increased. The penthouse deal and sales rate at Tobacco Warehouse are the latest example of the hugely positive and uplfting impact of the event for the city.”

Thirty-seven countries will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest, and the 2023 event will have global significance since the UK is hosting the event on behalf of 2022 winner Ukraine. The European Broadcasting Union and the Governments of Ukraine and the UK announcing on the 25th July 2022 that the event would be hosted in the UK, a reflection of the Ukraine-Russia war, the UK coming second in 2022 and the strong support provided to Ukraine by the UK government and people.

The 2023 contest will be produced by a unique collaboration between the BBC and the Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine (UA-PBC), with the stadium, Liverpool locations and film footage specially adapted to showcase Ukrainian culture, people, art and famous locations.

It is estimated that a record 200 million people from around the world will watch the 2023 event, with Culture Liverpool calculating that the contest will provide a £30 million boost to the Liverpool economy. Based on the 2022 turnout, up to 60% of the estimated 3 million tourists in the UK during the second week of May 2023 will either travel to Liverpool to celebrate the event or will attend parties to watch the event on television.
