Designing A Legacy

23.03.21

Keeping up to date, looking towards the future and moving forward is key to success and longevity for any interior designer. With years of experience, Interiors by Sarah Ward looks to the continue creating beautiful and refined interiors with the future in mind as they unveil a rebrand as Ward & Co.

The rebrand heralds a new era for the studio as daughter Rosie Ward steps into the fore as Creative Director. The mother - daughter duo, known for delivering classic contemporary designs with a bold flair, have worked together on an impressive range of projects in the UK and abroad over recent years, from historic country estates to modernist developments, coastal retreats and alpine escapes.

At Ward & Co, Sarah and Rosie offer an authentic, highly personalised approach to interior design, with a deep respect for culture and context considered through a contemporary lens, enabling them to deliver uniquely impressive spaces that stand the test of time.

Sarah Ward, Co-Founder of Ward & Co explains; “Rosie has been working by my side for seven years and together we have been responsible for driving the studio in a new and relevant direction, so I am excited to welcome her to the helm. As a family business, Ward & Co offers a unique proposition; our close relationship means we have the ability to collaborate in a way other studios cannot. We are a small and agile business and each client has the benefit of both mine and Rosie’s expertise, insight and imagination.”

Rosie Ward, Co-Founder & Creative Director of Ward & Co adds; “Interior design has always played a huge role in my life, having spent a lot of time in the design studio from a young age and then being nurtured by Sarah throughout my professional career. Clients enjoy working with us because we both approach a project from a different perspective, this means they’re getting double the creativity and the end result is perfectly balanced and completely unique to them.”

The launch of Ward & Co comes as the studio showcases its Kensington project, Allegra, a two-bedroom apartment perfectly illustrating the marriage of classical Neo-Georgian architecture and vibrant international culture. Located within a prestigious west London enclave, Ward & Co’s design incorporates patterns, textures and colours that emphasise the building’s dramatic proportions, whilst also appreciating and complimenting the client’s rich cultural heritage. Working alongside the existing architecture of the building, Ward & Co selected a distinctly cool palette of teal, pale mint and aquamarine to create a calming ambiance, subsequently layering this with bespoke joinery, hand-crafted textures and objets.

Within the main reception room, Ward & Co commissioned a bespoke shelving unit of veneer, walnut timber and brass, separating the formal dining and more relaxed seating areas, whilst still allowing for a continuous flow of natural light. A delicate, floral, hand painted wallpaper by D’Arts offsets striking strands of colour in the teal Bethan Gray sideboard, bold Roche Bobois dining furniture and oversized copper, gold and smoke Tom Dixon pendant lighting. Mulberry Home’s ‘flying duck’ wallpaper and Philip Geoffrey’s textured wallpaper throughout the project provide further flashes of colour and reference the relaxing quality of nature.

Ward & Co’s upcoming projects include a lateral apartment overlooking Covent Garden’s famous Piazza, a listed property in Suffolk, beachfront villa in Antigua and townhouses in Kensington and Marlow.
