Chantelle Alicia has established a boutique interior design studio located in the heart of the Caribbean, in beautiful Barbados. Just like the crystal-clear waters that surround the island, Chantelle’s design vision is nothing short of captivating; she is enriched by the process of bringing her clients’ dreams to life.
Working with a team of global designers, Chantelle’s practice has grown steadily over the past five years and continues on an upward trajectory, attracting homeowners from all over the world looking to enjoy a slice of luxury on the island.
Her studio’s projects have extended from high-end private residential homes and private villas to boutique retail and exclusive aesthetic facilities. Chantelle explains: “We take so much pride to bring out the best in our interiors and for each project to feel like a 3-dimensional piece of art”. Beginning her career in Toronto, the ever-expanding North American metropolis, Chantelle worked for a number of years on highend residential projects to establish a strong network and build her contemporary design expertise, which informs the projects she brings to life.
At Casa Salerno, we can appreciate the clean sight lines, perfect symmetry and interior balance designed into every space. Every detail has been considered to enhance the visual harmony and unknowing inner state of peace experienced in all of Chantelle’s thoughtfully designed spaces. Chantelle explains: “Although all of our projects have the same balanced scale and proportions throughout, each design must always feel unique to the user and client demographic”. Chantelle takes the time to listen with an open mind and attentively understand clients’ needs. Casa Salerno is no exception; plush velvet linens, the hand-picked select furniture pieces and high-end finishes are used to elevate the space, and a unique selection of dark marble and custom millwork in mid-tone wood colours are used to bring focus to an otherwise softer interior.
As with many of her projects, Chantelle sources local artwork to bring to life the unique selection of artists in Barbados. At Casa Salerno, she pairs these locally sourced pieces with an international selection from the Morrison Hotel Gallery in New York. Casa Salerno showcases an exceptional combination of light and dark elements, bringing attention to the positive and negative. This distinctive design sensibility is seen throughout the interior and is an ode to Chantelle’s refined receptivity to balance and beauty.
