For the first time in its 96-year history, Gleneagles is expanding beyond the Ochil Hills of Perthshire with a vibrant new townhouse offering in Edinburgh. Abode2 secure a sneak peek of what guests can expect
Set in one of Edinburgh’s most historic buildings on St Andrew Square, Gleneagles Townhouse will be opening its doors for the first time this summer to esteemed club members and guests. Over the last five years, the in-house design team for the project, Ennismore Design Studio, and their talented team of architects and technicians have been working tirelessly to restore this iconic building, previously home to the British Linen Bank, and later the Bank of Scotland. Embracing the property’s heritage and listed building status, the interiors marry timeless charm while incorporating all of today’s mod-con luxe essentials.
The interior decor has been beautifully curated. Modern artwork by local Scottish artists is juxtaposed with antique lighting with noble nods made throughout to the building’s outstanding architectural features designed by notable architect David Bryce, best known for perfecting the Scottish Baronial style.
In addition to the elegant and sumptuous interior scape, the Townhouse will boast a stunning selection of bedrooms and suites, together with a fine-dining restaurant and state-of-the-art gym housed in the old bank vault.
For the perfect spot to watch the sunset and see the sparkling city lights, guests can head to the roof terrace bar. This exclusive space boasts views of Edinburgh’s medieval Old Town to the left and picture-perfect New Town to the right. With influences from the rich Gleneagles heritage and bountiful Scottish surrounds, the whisky, wine and cocktail list features only the finest tipple.
For those keen to indulge mind, body and soul; the former vault is also equipped with a dedicated training, treatment and beauty therapy suite. Curated experiences for holistic wellness using innovative technologies include a cryotherapy chamber and infrared sauna. The gym and wellness facilities meanwhile, enhance the health and fitness journey with a diverse range of classes available.
The team behind the Townhouse project is excited to bring together a new, diverse and vibrant membership community in Gleneagles’ new city home, one with a passion for exchanging ideas, discovering new obsessions, collaborating, and simply having fun. An integral part of this, will be the Members’ Club in the heart of the club, the ideal base for breakfast meetings, catch-up brunches and long leisurely lunches. The Members’ Snug meanwhile, is an office-away-from-the-office, a relaxing co-working space featuring a help-yourself pantry – ideal for catching up on emails and hosting informal meetings. Evenings at the Townhouse offer a space for friends, guests and colleagues to meet and enjoy a carefully curated cultural programme featuring live music and seasonal parties, intimate wine tastings, talks and themed events.
Additionally, Gleneagles Townhouse is proud to play its part in supporting the local community, working closely with friends at Social Bite to help support the most vulnerable communities in Edinburgh while integrating their official charity partnership across all in-house departments – from human resources, to event support and hotel reservations. With such a prominent step in its history, Gleneagles will share its city home, and gather a vibrant and positive community to collaborate, celebrate, discover and explore.
