A Michelin For Monte

Monte Rei, Portugal, 21st November, 2019 - Monte Rei Golf and Country Club is delighted to announce that Vistas, the resort’s fine dining restaurant led by Chef Rui Silvestre, has been awarded a Michelin star in the Guide of Portugal and Spain 2020.

Rui Silvestre was present at the Michelin Guide Iberian Gala, held on the 20th of November 2019 and commented: “I set-out to build something special and different at Vistas, to challenge the senses with every dish I create, and take our guests on a culinary journey using the finest local ingredients and produce. The Algarve is synonymous with the ocean and my dishes look to compliment that connection by using the freshest fish and seafood. I want to thank the team at Vistas for their hard work and dedication, and I would also like to thank the management team for their confidence and support in allowing us to always go further in pursuit of our vision. I am very proud of what we have created and it is an honour to be able to say that at Vistas we now have a Michelin Star.”

Rui’s style of cooking represents a return to culinary essentials. A respect for nature, pure tastes, genuine aromas and superb flavours. In 2015, at the age of 29, Rui became the youngest Portuguese chef to win a Michelin Star and he is very proud to once again have this amazing accolade just a year after joining Monte Rei’s team.
