Treat Your Shelf

07.10.22

The weather isn’t the only thing going through a transition this month. With the official start of autumn, bookworms everywhere are putting down their sand-filled beach reads to dust off their cherished literary classics.

To set the Autumnal mood, Abode2 takes a look at a collection of luxury condo buildings in NYC that offer cosy libraries to help inspire residents to take part in some bibliotherapy as we creep into the colder months of the year. Equipped with crackling fireplaces, these tranquil spaces are the perfect setting to transport you away from reality and into the book world of your choosing.

547 West 47th Street

Designed inside and out by Concrete as the firm's first residential project in NYC, 547 West 47th Street has a distinctly communal atmosphere from the second you walk into the building. Just beyond the main lobby lounge is The Glasshouse, a freestanding glass-enclosed library. It features natural wood details juxtaposed with black framing, a colourful array of books decorating their built-in shelves, cosy fireplace, living room seating area and a communal worktable. The Glasshouse overlooks a serene interior courtyard, allowing readers to curl up comfortably with their book while experiencing the falling of the leaves – without feeling the Autumn chill.

547 West 47th Street is a transformative, move-in-ready luxury condominium located on 11th Avenue between 47th and 48th Streets. The recently completed development features 219 studio to two-bedroom residences with turnkey home packages available and brings more than 30,000 square feet of curated amenities and lifestyle services to Hell’s Kitchen.

Equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi and present on the lobby level, multiple seating areas are dispersed throughout and offer professionals or families spaces to work individually or in a group setting. The Blue Room, punctuated by a marble fireplace clad with a bronze finished ornamental screen, encompasses both high and low-top tables and is directly adjacent to a garden courtyard that you can take calls from while after work for happy hour a wet bar is available. The library, curated by Strand Books, is flooded with natural light and has a host of couches and comfy chairs to work from or do some reading. The 37th-floor private resident's lounge also boasts a lobby adjacent to a pool table where residents can work while overlooking incredible views of the city skyline.
