Standing at the heart of Gibraltar’s central business district, EuroCity is being brought to life by a world-class project team.
Comprising handpicked architects, engineers, landscape designers and experts in service delivery, the project team behind EuroCity are the best-in-class, selected to deliver a truly game-changing development.
The Manser Practice
Responsible for the overall design of EuroCity, award-winning British architecture firm The Manser Practice has over 50 years of experience in architecture and interior design, adhering to the view that simple principles create buildings that work well and look good.
At EuroCity, its three towers – Carrara, Murano and Porcelana – bring together sustainability, striking architecture and lifestyle with shops, offices, restaurants, pools and a gym. Sustainability is built into the project: the orientation of the towers optimises daylight and views of the Rock, Spain and Africa, whilst design elements such as green walls and hanging planting provide some shade from the sun to the lower levels, as well as concealing extensive parking from view.
“We wanted to create the best of 21st century living, bedded in the centuries old eco-culture of gardens, pools and courtyards and in the process produce an elegant, dignified addition to Gibraltar,” explains Jonathan Manser, founder of The Manser Practice.
Andy Sturgeon
The RHS Chelsea Flower Show remains one of the globe’s most revered horticultural celebrations. As a former winner at the show, Andy Sturgeon has emerged as one of the world’s leading landscape and garden designers.
At EuroCity, Andy has drawn inspiration from Gibraltar’s shady, old-city lanes, with pleasant, cooling courtyards at the base of the three EuroCity towers interconnecting with passageways to create a quiet green escape of gardens and pools.
Plants and contrasting materials have been carefully selected and combined, resulting in an elegant and distinct contribution to the streetscape. At podium level, a series of connected zones encourage a variety of uses, with areas including the Pool Terrace, Secret Garden, Main Garden and Cactus Garden, each offering an oasis ideal for leisure or relaxation.
Andy Sturgeon, founder of Andy Sturgeon Design, adds: “It is my belief that gardens and landscapes improve not just the environment but the quality of life for all who experience them.”
