A former school site is being given a new lease of life, with fifty-eight new houses and apartments set to become nestled within 6 acres of private parkland in the scenic town of Bath.
The development, spearheaded by JV partners Galliard Homes and Acorn Property Group, will be arranged around the centrepiece Grade II listed Hope House, the former Bath Royal High Junior School, where Queen of baking, Mary Berry once attended
The original Hope House building was built in 1781, has been a significant building for the town, surviving a war and being an educational institution to many local girls. The new development intends to retain the Georgian architecture, preserving the character and appearance of this historic area, most notably through the use of the Bath Stone.
The entire scheme comprises 16 one-bedroom apartments, 18 two-bedroom apartments, 8 three bedroom apartments, 2 four-bedroom apartments, 8 three-bedroom houses and 6 four-bedroom houses, plus features including underground parking. The project will also play host to the first concierge service for a Bath new home development.
"We are thrilled to be launching in one of England’s most beautiful regional cities, says Stephen Conway, Executive Chairman of Galliard Homes. “Hope House is a truly spectacular scheme that is representative and sympathetic to the surrounding architecture and landscape. We have been extremely respectful of the site and it’s a development we are truly proud to be working on.”
A two-bedroom show apartment has recently been launched inside the original Hope House, featuring a large reception, a formal dining room with an ornate fireplace, and bespoke made kitchen by Stephen Graver Kitchens. The master en-suite bedroom has views across to the parkland and features a private dressing room with fully fitted wardrobes and polished marble floor and wall tiles in the en-suite bathroom.
Opportunities at Hope House start from £340,000. To book a viewing or register your interest visit acornpropertygroup.org/development/hope-house-bath
