Two new reports show that Portugal not only provides a better cost of living than the UK, but a better quality of life too. Numbeo’s 2021 mid-year update positions Portugal 20th globally for its quality of life, compared to 23rd for the UK. For cost of living, the UK ranks as the 21st most expensive country in the world, while Portugal sits at a much more cost-effective 37th place.

The Post Office Holiday Money Report 2021, meanwhile, has found Portugal’s Algarve region to be the cheapest holiday destination in the Eurozone – and the third cheapest in the world. The annual report, which looks at items ranging from dinner for two with wine to sun cream, noted a 16.5% drop in costs since the previous results.

Nor is it just affordable holidays that the Algarve has to offer. Property there provides excellent value for money compared to the UK.
