A London-based consultancy has designed the ‘Houzz of 2018’ a live installation that will take over Soho’s 19 Greek Street venue later this month.
Renowned for its credentials as the go-to design team for edgy and cool interiors for residential and commercial spaces, Run For The Hills has worked closely with the team at Houzz, lead sponsors, vendors, collaborators and contributors, to create five storeys of impactful interiors highlighting the trends of 2018 for the home.
Anna Burles, Creative Director of Run For The Hills, says: “We were absolutely delighted to be selected as the interior designers of ‘Houzz 2018’. It’s such a cool concept and a wonderful showcase for us. There are some fabulous partners on board; a real coming together of creative minds. The Greek Street Georgian townhouse venue is an amazing blank canvas and we can’t wait to see it transformed into the ‘Houzz of 2018’.”
The interior design trends of 19 Greek Street are based on Houzz community insights and data, including the most popular photos and articles on the platform and trend-spotting by the Run For The Hills team.
The design incorporates textures and colours such as velvet, forest green, pink hues, botanicals and metallic and features products which reflect the best examples of modern craft, retro furniture and modern rustic.
The house, which fills all five floors of the town house, features an entrance hall, kitchen, dining and living room, a master bedroom and en-suite bathroom, a children’s room and on the top floor an area sponsored by Nespresso. The design team hand sketched the building and created a teaser cross-section visual of the design highlights floor by floor.
“Our brief was to transform 19 Greek Street into an utterly Instagrammable home for a stylish urban couple and their equally fashionista toddler,” says Anna. “Our design takes in an exciting array of style trends including modern craft accents, pops of the 1970s, the wonders of velvet, pink hues and shades of forest green, plus a few references to the incipient Japanordics trend.”
She adds: “We have devised a scheme that is grown up and glamorous, but also fresh and earthy, with lots of lovely, tactile and sensual textures and laced through with lots of fun touches.
“We also wanted to add our signature design flair to the project. By deliberately taking some iconic, well-worn and much loved pieces and styles, and giving them an original twist, by juxtaposing them with unexpected accessories, colours and treatments.
The pop-up house at 19 Greek Street is in the heart of Soho, an area which is a destination for young, creative Londoners and visitors who seek out the innovative restaurants, bars, pubs, clubs and boutiques that have sprung up.
Run For The Hills has already contributed to the look and style of the area through its work on Kricket Soho, the much-lauded Indian small plates restaurant in Denman Street, and Claw, a brand-new urban seafood restaurant in Kingly Street. A secret third Soho venue is currently in production.
“We are delighted to work with Run for the Hills for the design of the Houzz of 2018. They have done an excellent job in interpreting the trends based on the Houzz insights and data, including the most popular photos and articles on the Houzz platform. Run for the Hills have brought this project to life and made it a must see installation for the interior trends of the coming year”, says Marcus Hartwall, Managing Director of Houzz UK and Ireland.
Anna Burles and the Run For The Hills interior design team will be at the Houzz of 2018 for the Press Breakfast and evening party on January 25 and will contribute to ‘industry events’ with Houzz professionals, such as interior designers, architects, kitchen experts etc, to answer questions on the concept and design.
The design exhibit will be open to the public from January 26 – 31 from 11am to 6pm
