Widley known as one of the grandest Miami Beach mansions on Biscayne Bay, this $40 million home has recently been sold by music legend Phil Collins, although he was not the first musical icon to have lived here. A-list singer, Jennifer Lopez lived in the 1920's mansion from 2002 until 2005, when she sold it for $13.9 million.
The Old World Spanish-style home was built in 1929 and sits on a 1.5 ache of lush tropical landscape. The property backs up to 184 feet of prime bay-fronted space. The bay side of the property not only offer beautiful views of the glittering skyline, but also boasts luxurious calming amenities. With a boat dock for those who enjoy sailing in the sun, there is also a spa and large pool for those owners who prefer more private waters. A 6,000-gallon Koi pond adds to the tranquillity of the property. Also built on the bay said is a summer kitchen and cabana.
The house itself extends to 10,769 square feet and the interior includes a large formal room that opens out on to the view with a built-in lift to the second floor. Some major renovations were carried out by the owner before Phil Collins, businessman Mark Gainor, who purchased the property from Jenifer Lopez in 2005. Gainor added a 1,000 square foot walk in closer in the main suite aswell as replacing the roof and reconfigured all the rooms on the second floor.
There are currently six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a home gym and a two-storey foyer. The house also includes a chef’s kitchen as well as a wine cellar. The interior design pays homage to the rich Iberian-style architecture, with dark wood tiles complementing the arched arcades. There is an open dinning space that boast large glass windows, highlighting yet again the palm-tree kissed garden.
Despite Collins selling his Miami home there is a trend of celebrities making the move to the coastal city. Tom Brady and Cindy Crawford are among the list of celebrities who have recently bought homes or land in the Miami Beach area, even Jennifer Lopez is returning the Florida city.
