Charlotte of the Upper West Side, one of the first new residential buildings to be constructed in the Central Park Historic District in the past 30 years, and believed to be the most sustainable condominium building ever built in New York City, has recently unveiled a look at its interiors via its first completed residence.
Believed to be the most sustainable condominium building ever built in New York City, Charlotte of the Upper West Side is a building inspired by—and designed for—an entire generation. Designed by the celebrated BKSK Architects and engineered to meet the exacting standards of the German-based Passive House Institute, the state-of-the-art building boosts its residents' health, wellbeing, safety, and comfort.
With the building nearly complete, the team is now unveiling a look at the first completed residence, which has been furnished by New York designer Alyssa Kapito of Alyssa Kapito Interiors. Alyssa also worked on the building's interior design alongside BKSK Architects. The model residence boasts a wonderful mix of contemporary furniture designed specifically for the home and significant vintage pieces and antiques. Furniture and accessories by the French mid century masters such as Jean Royère and Charlotte Perriand, as well a host of other global furniture makers, can be found throughout the space.
Inside there are just seven full-floor homes, including a duplex penthouse residence with multiple terraces and a garden residence with gracious private outdoor space. Each home features four bedrooms with ensuite baths, including a separate master bedroom wing as well as generous 20 x 47-foot kitchen-living-dining-room with operable floor-to-ceiling windows. Henrybuilt, the leading luxury, custom cabinetry maker, designed the bespoke kitchens, combining refined, timeless style with superior functionality. The master bathrooms feature elegantly veined Imperial Danby marble floors and floor-to-ceiling wall slabs from the historic Vermont Danby quarry. The secondary bathrooms feature light stoneware handcrafted from American Clay and hand-glazed in San Francisco by Heath Ceramics.
