Laheq Red Sea’s First Private Island Community For Residential Living

Introducing Laheq: The Red Sea’s First Private Island Community For Residential Living

22.08.25

Red Sea Residences is unveiling its latest coastal address: Laheq — a private island community that brings a new dimension of resort-style living to Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast. As the first island within the destination designed around residential ownership, Laheq invites homeowners to become part of an intimate, design-led escape shaped by nature, water, and wellbeing.

Laheq marks the next evolution of The Red Sea destination. Following the opening of five resorts and the launch of Red Sea International Airport, this is the first island to be revealed beyond Phase One — and the first to offer private homes as part of a curated, lifestyle-led experience. Scheduled to open in 2028, Laheq introduces a new way of living in the region: close to nature, rich in experiences, and rooted in beauty.

Just off the western coast of Saudi Arabia lies the world’s fourth-largest barrier reef, surrounding a protected archipelago of 92 pristine islands. Within this untouched seascape sits Laheq — a jewel of an island defined by white-sand beaches, vibrant coral reefs, and crystal-clear waters. Carefully selected for its serene beauty and intimate scale, it is set to become one of the Red Sea’s most desirable addresses.

The design of Laheq Island was led by Foster + Partners, whose masterplan is anchored in the concept of the “Forever Garden,” a vision shaped by immersive greenery, shaded spaces, and a seamless flow between built and natural environments.

At the centre of the island lies The Ring, an iconic, 800-metre-wide structure encompassing luxury apartments, boutique hotels, and curated retail, all encircling the soft white sands of the island’s central lagoon.

Built for living

Private residences on Laheq take their cues from the character of the land, sea, sky and flora of the island. Natural timbers form elegant, shaded canopies, breezy pergolas, and tranquil garden courtyards that invite the outdoors in.

Laheq Island offers an extensive range of amenities and experiences for residents and guests. A 115-berth marina, alongside sailing and watersports schools, caters to the seafaring set, while a racket club, fitness centre, sports field, picturesque 18-hole golf course, and landscaped park offer plenty for those who prefer land-based activities. A bustling souq offers an amazing tapestry of sights and sounds with carefully curated products and essentials.

Additionally, residents and guests can indulge in a diverse range of premium beach clubs and dining experiences, each offering its own unique atmosphere from laid-back, barefoot settings to more refined venues. These establishments will celebrate the best of local and international cuisine, with a focus on freshly sourced ingredients and exceptional culinary craftsmanship.

The island will also be home to two luxury resort hotels — one focused on wellness and restoration, the other tuned to a more vibrant, sociable energy, appealing to curious and adventurous travellers.

Built for the future

Laheq Red Sea’s First Private Island Community For Residential Living

The Red Sea destination is guided by a long-term commitment to both the environment and the communities who will live within it. From the outset, the vision has been rooted in regenerative principles — not only preserving the natural landscape, but actively restoring it.

Across the destination, efforts are underway to plant 50 million mangroves, with a long-term commitment also in place to protect and regenerate coral reefs in the Red Sea and beyond. Once complete, The Red Sea — including Laheq Island — will be the world’s largest destination to run on 100% renewable energy. Residents will become part of a community where every detail has been considered to protect biodiversity, reduce environmental impact, and create a truly future-forward way of life.

The destination is already taking shape, with five resorts now open and Red Sea International Airport providing seamless access from across the region. By 2030, The Red Sea will encompass 50 resorts, 8,000 hotel rooms, and over 1,000 residences across 22 islands and six inland locations.

Laheq is a key element of RSG’s expanding residential portfolio, managed by Red Sea Residences.
