How to spice up your bedroom

A recent survey said “Two in five older women were unsatisfied with their sex lives"!

Are you tired of the same old routine? Longing to reignite that spark with your partner? Intimate Spaces, is a high-end interior design company that specialises in creating exquisite, sensual adult playrooms.

So we know a thing or two about how to spice up a bedroom. We create interior design schemes to suit all tastes, but there are some universal guidelines that can help you to transform your bedroom into a sensual space:

  • Choose a colour scheme that suits your personality and preferences. Colours can have a powerful effect on your emotions and energy levels, so pick ones that make you feel calm, happy, and sexy.
  • Add some soft lighting to create a cosy and romantic ambiance. Avoid harsh overhead lights or bright lamps that can make you feel exposed or tense. Instead, opt for warm bulbs that are dimmable, wall sconces, up lighting, coving lighting, artwork lighting, scented candles, or a fireplace to cast a warm and flattering glow over your bedroom. You can also use curtains, blinds, or shades to control the amount of natural light that enters your room.
  • Invest in some quality bedding that feels good on your skin and invites you to cuddle up. Nothing says sensual like a luxurious bed. Choose bedding that is soft and smooth using fabrics like silk, satin, high thread count cotton and throws of fur, cashmere, and mohair. Build textures to give a sumptuous feel. By adding extra pillows and over filled feather cushions you can prop yourself up or support your body in different positions.
  • Artwork - Hang some erotic or sensual art or photos to add interest to the walls. You can commission a photographer to take beautiful black and white photos of you and your partner or get an artist to paint your partner or part of them.
  • Mirrors –are a necessity in a sensual room. Of course, there is the clichéd mirror above the bed but why not have a mirror opposite a bespoke seat? Or mirrors inset into wardrobe doors.
  • Rugs – are another way to quickly create an inviting space. It looks best when approximately two thirds of your bed is on top of the rug.
  • Adding plants or flowers brings freshness and life to a room. They can also purify the air and add fragrance. You can choose plants that are easy to care for, such as succulents, orchids, or ferns.
  • Aromatherapy is a great way to stimulate your senses and create a sensual mood. Use essential oils, diffusers, sprays, or incense to fill your bedroom with mood boosting fragrance. Some of the best aromas for sensuality are ylang-ylang, sandalwood, patchouli, jasmine and rose.

By following these tips and techniques, you can transform your bedroom into a sensual sanctuary that will enhance your relationship and your happiness. Or you can give us a call and we will design a room that seduces and delights with our bespoke furniture and equipment, leaving you and your partner craving for more. And the best part? We take care of everything - from design and project management to build and installation. You don't have to worry about a thing, except maybe what you'll wear in your new room.

So, if you're ready to reignite passion, to escape the ordinary and embrace the extraordinary, let Intimate Spaces create a world of pleasure and desire just for you.
