We loved working with James Netherton, Director of Iconiq Homes on our Grimthorpe Avenue, Whitstable Project. This property was marketed by Christopher Hodgson and photographed by Duncan Smith. James specialises in creating luxury homes and apartments in desirable locations, predominately along the East Kent coastline. Iconiq Homes is a niche private property development company that has exceptional attention to detail when delivering high-quality developments.
We designed and dressed a beautiful contemporary new home with panoramic views over Whitstable town and across the sea. Grimthorpe Avenue is a much sought-after location in the popular seaside town of Whitstable, enjoying an elevated position and within easy access to Duncan Downs. Whitstable itself is a charming town by the sea with its working harbour and colourful streets of fisherman's cottages.
The property comprises a spacious entrance hall, an open-plan living room with full-height sliding doors opening to a porcelain stone terrace, a stylish German manufactured designer kitchen by ‘Schuller’ with a breakfast bar, a dining area, a study, utility room and ground floor cloakroom. The interiors are finished to a high specification throughout with high ceilings and large, light-filled, open-plan living accommodations. The combination of black and white highlights its unique features and helps to create a luxurious contemporary home. Classic and always in fashion; this scheme is fabulously versatile. The mood of any room throughout this house can easily be transformed with just a change of accessories. At LSL our go-to accent colours are often green and gold which you can see in the open-plan area. We love the glam that gold brings; with the addition of green softening the space. The ability jewel colours have to add elegance and a hint of luxury without having to spend a fortune, always raises the result. It transforms a space from high street to high end.
The first floor comprises four double bedrooms and two luxurious bathrooms, including the principal bedroom suite with a dressing room. Outside, the split-level rear garden incorporates a terrace which is ideal for entertaining, and the perfect vantage point to enjoy the views, and Whitstable’s famous sunsets. Upstairs we introduced contrast, richness and warmth with texture, detailing and soft colour. Texture and layering take over in the absence of colour in a monochrome scheme. It creates subtleties in the play of light and shadow which is another reason why we love this scheme so much; there is truly something magical about it.
