Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to launch a global curriculum for international schools from the 2026-27 academic session. This curriculum aligns with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) and aims to provide students with a globally competitive learning experience. Currently, CBSE does not offer an international curriculum, with most international schools affiliating with CI, IB, or CISCE; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations.
The new curriculum will integrate CBSE’s local syllabus with global educational standards and will be available for foreign CBSE-affiliated schools, as well as Indian CBSE schools and other international institutions. A detailed action plan is being developed, and discussions are ongoing.
CBSE had previously attempted an international curriculum (CBSE-i) in 2010 but discontinued it in 2017 due to limited adoption. This initiative marks CBSE’s re-entry into the global education sector.
