All For France?

In the office, or at least in the bar after work, you’ll often hear us playing a game of “Where in the world would you most like a second home?” The only problem is that we usually have to add “but not France”, because it’s too obvious an’ answer, and where’s the fun in that?

Let us count the ways we adore France. The food, wine, landscape, fashion, architecture, history, art, music... And for a controversial statement, might I add “the people”? Speaking from experience we have found the French to be quite welcoming and kind, as well as being chic, attractive and demanding the highest standards.

So there you have the fun reasons. Now for the practical reasons to focus on France (sorry, but they're important to note):

Accessibility

Property being generally a long-term purchase, thinking about long-term travel options is highly advisable. You can get to France easily via ferry, train, plane or car, or just stick your bicycle on the ferry. Air travel options include light and private aircraft too. However, the long-term future of air travel has to be in electric planes and in the decades ahead these are unlikely to have a range much beyond 1,000 miles. Perfect for France.

Investment

Do you remember London five years before the London Olympics? An average London property cost £280,000, and ten years later was worth £491,000 according to official, ONS data. It is just five years until the Paris Olympics and many of us believe that this is the city to watch for the next decade. The gilets jaunes may have prompted President Macron to rethink and revise his strategy for revitalising France, but this is a country whose time is now. Don’t miss le bateau!

Safety

With a strong legal system and network of reliable English-speaking estate agents, you can have confidence when buying in France.
