Actor and former Brat Pak member Rob Lowe has put his California estate on the market for a cool $47 million.
The 10,000-square-foot main house includes six bedrooms, formal living and dining areas, a home office, a screening room, a wine cellar and selection of terraces. The main house boasts a piano bar on site, and each of the couple’s two children had their own suites, with their own living rooms and en suite bathrooms.
The estate also has a two-bedroom guesthouse with its own kitchenette, as well as an 800-square-foot pool house with a kitchen and bedroom. The grounds include a reflecting pool, a koi pond, rose and vegetable gardens, a swimming pool, a fire pit and a tennis court with two observation areas.
The actor purchased the land alongside his jewellery designer wife, Sheryl Lowe, back in 2005, and built the home from scratch, hiring a feng shui master to help create a peaceful atmosphere. The design of the 20-room home was inspired by the architecture of the Virginia countryside
The Montecito area is home to many celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres and Jeff Bridges. Neighbours of the Lowes include Ed Glazer, an owner and co-chairman of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The estate is listed with Suzanne Perkins of Sotheby’s International Realty.
