Leonardo Dicaprio’s former Spanish-style home in Silver Lake, LA has been sold for twice the price that the actor sold it for. The Oscar winning actor bought the three-story, 4,006-square-foot property 20 years ago for $769,500 in 1999 and sold it last December for £1.2 million. Less than a year later, it’s been revamped and flipped - selling for £2.69 million. To more than double their money, the new owners stripped most of the period details from the 1930’s four-bedroom, 4.5 bathroom hacienda, including the Art Deco tiling and the white and blue tiled kitchen with its decorative pressed tin celling.

They decided to preserve the fireplaces, original wooden doors and exposed beams staining them ebony to fit with the new monochrome design. The revamp includes a new eat-in dark wood shaker-style kitchen, outfitted with stainless steel appliances and recessed lighting, a large island in the centre and finished with gold handles. There’s also a living room - decorated in neutral tones and overlooking the courtyard, a formal dining room and a remodelled lift that provides access to all three levels of the home.

The master bedroom contains a wood-burning fireplace, a separate seating area and two sets of French doors that lead out onto the courtyard. The other three bedrooms are also decorated with a muted palette and complemented with striking dark woodwork.

A luxurious spa style bathroom, is configured with a free-standing bath, glass-encased steam shower and contemporary black and white tiled floor luxuriously graces the property and a sunken office, located at the bottom of a few steps, completes the inside of the property.

Outside, the main focal point is the pool with an adjacent shower room and an outside living space, ideal for alfresco dining or relaxing, as well as an open air covered pavilion with an outdoor fireplace and full entertainment and living space.

Even though DiCaprio parted with this particular Silver Lake home, he still maintains a large real estate portfolio ofexpensive homes around the United States.
