Visiting the Caribbean has become that little bit simpler for stateside travellers, as American Airlines launches two new routes to the island of Saint Lucia
Since Saint Lucia opened for tourism in June 2020 it’s been a popular discerning travellers the world over.
The flights, which officially launched this weekend, include new nonstop flights from both Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.
“Im very happy to see that the tourism sector is at the beginning of a rebound and this can only augur well for more jobs, business linkages, and more revenue,” said Saint Lucia Tourism Minister Dominic Fedee. “We are optimistic about the start of what is projecting to be an exciting summer, which means that hundreds of more tourism employees will likely return to work, noting that several taxi drivers, tour guides, vendors, and others have been disadvantaged amid the pandemic. Together, we will work diligently to restore Saint Lucia’s tourism product better than before.”
Both the Dallas-Fort Worth and the New York-Saint Lucia routes will be operating with a weekly service on Saturdays.
They’re both the product of American Airlines’ new “Northeast Alliance” with JetBlue, which is fuelling a number of new Caribbean routes.
An additional option for people travelling from the states will be available in July when JetBlue launches a new service from Newark Liberty International Airport to the Island.
The island has recently announced that it’ll be opening up the destination for vaccinated travellers, meaning vaccinated visitors no longer have to stay at their hotels and they’re free to roam around the island.
