Tom Cruise is selling his 320-Acre Colorado Mountain Ranch in Telluride, that he helped design, for $39.5 million. The Ranch was the setting of his last major interview with Oprah, who was so taken by the home, the location, and the stunning views, that she herself bought a home nearby.
Telluride has, for a long time, been the go-to location of celebrities’ ski homes and offers tranquillity and calm away from what can be highly pressured and busy ‘A’ list lifestyles. With notable residences nearby such as Ralph Lauren, Robert Redford and Jerry Seinfeld, the area clearly has a strong pull for those looking for escapism.
Rising to fame in 1983 at the age of 19 in Risky Business, Tom cruise has been one of the world’s most successful and wealthy actors for the last forty years. Having spent many happy times over the years at the Telluride Ranch, during his marriage to Katie Holmes, he has also enjoyed quality family time with his children.
Sitting at 320-acres, the expansive grounds not only offer an amazing space to enjoy awe-inspiring views, but also a specialised area for a number of outside activities for all seasons. The outside sport court is perfect for tennis, basketball and ice hockey.
For a slower pace, there’s a private gate into the Uncompahgre National Forest and also a private trail system with access to and stunning views of 1400-foot-high mountains. Threading through the ranch are hiking and riding trails and both dirt bike and snowmobile tracks, offering a range of paces to enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds this stunning home.
The house itself is as equally impressive as the location. The gated entrance opens onto a mile-long driveway, adding yet another opportunity for the new owner and guests to take in the majesty of the scenic mountainous backdrop.
Not only is the home custom-built for privacy, the property, is also perfectly designed to take in the unspoiled natural views. Comprising 10,000 square foot in total, the four-bedroom main house is complemented by a separate three-bedroom guest house.
Both properties boast rustic-bleached-cedar timbers and native stone. Beamed ceilings and large expanses of glass add a modern, elegant finish to the interior styling, without losing the distinctive country feel.
