Marbella is back on the international market with Real de La Quinta

25.09.17

La Quinta Grupo Inmobilario has begun initial construction work at Real de la Quinta, a new residential tourism development with approximately 1,600 luxury homes, located in the best enclave of Marbella-Benahavís in the province of Malaga. The project is situated on 202 hectares of land within the last zone of new construction remaining in the heart of the Costa del Sol. Designed for the international residential market, the resort’s focus is on design and quality-of-life, while showing maximum respect and care for the environment. This is the first development in Spain with BREEAM® sustainable construction certification, and it is destined to become the Mediterranean’s primary focus of attention for short-term and medium-term availability of international residential properties.

With this project, La Quinta Grupo Inmobilario is becoming the only company in the region to start up a second residential development. Its first was La Quinta Golf Housing Complex built 30 years ago, which consists of apartments, villas, a hotel, and various recreational services that occupy almost 160 hectares, and with a total of over 1,300 homes. That project helped the Group gain expertise that now backs up its ability to take on the new challenge of Real de la Quinta, which represents an investment of approximately €450 million.

A focal point for European Tourism

The town of Benehavís, adjacent to Marbella, has traditionally attracted people from many different countries, and has become one of the most cosmopolitan environments on the Costa del Sol, with 62% of its residents being from countries other than Spain.

Significant proportions of the residents in this area are from the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Belgium, and Scandinavia, along with many other European countries. All of this multi-national attraction is explained by the location’s reputation for luxury and exclusiveness, with its position in the heart of the Costa del Sol, both next to the sea and extending into the foothills of two small mountain ranges. Benehavís is located 15 minutes from the Puerto Banús marina in Marbella and 30 minutes by motorway from the provincial capital of Malaga and its airport.

Foreigners purchased 56,000 homes in Spain in 2016, which represents 13% of the total real estate transactions. The highest number of residential purchases by foreigners took place in the provinces of Malaga, Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia. According to data from a recent study by a real estate consulting firm, the largest proportions of these buyers are British (19%), French (8%), German (7.69%), Swedish (6.72%), Belgian (6.03%), and Italian (5.41%).

A world-class offer on the Costa del Sol

According to data from Spain’s Ministry of Development, only 6% of homes sold in this area are new. Real de La Quinta now represents a unique, sustainable, fully modern offer to help fill this gap in Marbella-Benahavís, the most well-established residential core in the area and one preferred by foreigners.

This new real estate resort project is unique in the Mediterranean. It will offer approximately 150 single-family residences and around 1,450 apartment homes on a land area of 202 hectares, which represents a very low-density buildability coefficient (maximum of 10 homes per hectare).

Real de La Quinta is ready to become the top short-term and medium-term offer on the Costa del Sol, representing maximum quality and ecological efficiency. It is a unique concept, a natural paradise full of experiences, where life can be enjoyed in the simplest and most authentic manner.

The resort is set against the mountains with sea views, and it includes a boutique hotel and a wellness centre with spa and gym facilities. The development also features an extensive sports club, including a 3.5-hectare lake that can be used for recreation (unique on the Costa del Sol and a feature that really succeeds in bringing the beach to the mountain), Lake Club, services for kayaking, stand-up paddle, and rowing, a 12-hole golf course, a golf school, tennis and paddle tennis courts, electric bicycles, an equestrian centre, and hiking trails. There are a vast range of services and amenities, complemented by a resident services office that is ready to address any needs that may arise.

All of this is taking place under the philosophy of combining tradition and innovation: the best of Andalusian style, where quality and integration into the surroundings take top priority, along with the latest technologies and services.

All the residential complexes at the resort are certified for environmental, social, and economic sustainability, based on the maximum standards published under the Building Research Establishment Assessment Methodology, known as BREEAM®. The purpose of this is to ensure that these luxury residential developments are fully integrated into their natural surroundings and show maximum respect for the Mediterranean ecosystem around them. This has also made the use of renewable energies and care for the environment top priorities for every home offered.
