Urbem Lighting

Internationally renowned designer Christopher Jenner presented their inspirational ‘Urbem’ lighting collection at this year’s show and we were smitten! The eight piece portfolio draws inspiration from late 19th century Milanese street lighting - Jenner employs the era’s profound industrial and technological ambition to devise an emotive collection of futuristic lighting. Urbem’s handmade triple layered opal with glass shades are a study in convex and concave form. Impressively sized, measuring 400mm x 600mm, Jenner’s designs challenge the boundaries of what is achievable in the art of glass blowing. Each piece features an innovative crafted chain which integrates the power source with design, a hand crafted aesthetic married which fulfils modern-day requirements. Innovative soft furnishing company, Atelier Textiles, celebrated its first show in style at Decorex 2014 showcasing its exclusive collection of curtain panels, bedding and soft furnishings. Lara Colgan, owner and Director of Atelier Textiles, has a passion for antique and vintage textiles which inspires her to create pieces with integrity and unique character. The hand-worked furnishings display beautiful embellishment, often referencing historical designs, and using skilled artisanship to create high quality and often bespoke pieces “Designers love working with beautiful objects and we want to provide them with exquisite soft furnishings which reveal a human touch,” she explains. “Our designs are timeless and the techniques, such as appliqué and hand embroidery, lend texture and an air of refined comfort unavailable to mass produced pieces.
