Yachting Season

Porto Montenegro, the Mediterranean’s leading luxury yacht homeport and marina village, revealed its events calendar for the year 2020 at Boot Dusseldorf, the world’s largest indoor boat show.

At the same time, it is well-balanced and diverse including various events and competitions both on water and onshore. From regattas to festivals, a Hackathon regional coding contest and business conferences, we have a lot to offer to our owners, clients, and guests. See you in Montenegro.”

Set in the heart of the Mediterranean amidst some of the most sought after cruising destinations, Montenegro is Europe’s undiscovered gem. Its unspoilt nature and dramatic landscape, where mountains slip into the deep azure waters of the Adriatic along 295 kilometers of coastline, give the country its slogan – outstanding natural beauty.

“Montenegro is waiting to be discovered and enjoyed as one of the most memorable stops on your charter journey,” says Tony Browne, Marina Director at Porto Montenegro. “Moreover, our marina is just a day’s sail from some of the Mediterranean’s best cruising grounds, including over 4,000 islands dotted along the coast from Croatia down to Greece – making it the ideal starting point for yacht charters.”

The 2020 regatta calendar seeks to attract keen sailors, beginning with the Grade 2 Match Race (8-10^th May), part of the European Match Race Tour, kicking off the season. What’s more, the Porto Montenegro Yacht Club organises several other competitions, among them the Trans-Adriatic race (13-17^th May) from Porto Montenegro to Bari, Italy, the Arsenal Cup (11^th July), the Fasinada Cup (July 21-22), Montenegro’s biggest international sailing regatta, and the Thousand Islands Race (September), covering a course of 300 miles between the Croatian Port of Rijeka and the town of Tivat.

Meanwhile, onshore plans are as strong, inspiring and ‘less ordinary’ as ever. The grand summer finale, Polo in the Port, returns from 6-8^th August, preceded by the International Fashion Festival on 24-25^th July, SuperWine Festival on 4^th July and the Made in New York Jazz Festival on 12^th June, alongside other surprises which are firmly placed on the Adriatic’s hottest events calendar.

Part II of the Superyacht Winter Games is scheduled for 27-29^th March, following a successful trip to snowy Kolasin in north Montenegro in early February, where captains and crew members competed in sporting and social activities followed by a mountain retreat. The sequel takes crew members offshore for a weekend of sailing as well as the village’s first decathlon.
