With many buyers now unshackled from daily commutes, exotic leisure destinations are becoming a viable option for those able to work from home. With this shift, slothful broadband has gone from an annoyance to a dealbreaker, but Savills have helpfully pinpointed the 50 locations that combine the exotic with the extra-fast mbps.
Napa Valley (1), Monaco (2) and Jackson Hole (3) top the overall table, while Aspen (5) and Kitzbühel (9) have the best connections of all US and European ski locations.
Those in search of sun should take a look at Barbados (23) , which has the fastest broadband speeds in the Caribbean.
Half of the locations surveyed clocked average broadband speeds greater than 25 mbps, and a further fifteen managed greater than 10 mbps.
Napa Valley’s average of speed came in at 61 mbps, ahead of Monaco’s 44mbps – the only location outside of the US to make the top five; Jackson Hole, Aspen, and Malibu all had average speeds of 39-40 mbps.
Working from home means being able to work from anywhere, a flat in the city, a family home in the suburbs or a second home in a holiday location. Regardless, to successfully work from home reliable and fast broadband is necessary.
Even before the pandemic, industry findings conclude that fast broadband and reliable Wi-Fi within properties is the top priority when looking for a new property. It’s often assumed that there’s a trade-off between leaving cities and internet connectivity; however, many locations offer both space and broadband speed.
