Boasting white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and sun-filled days, it’s easy to see why Barbados is an attractive holiday haven for second-homers. Chris Parra, Founder of Caribbean Estates explains more
One Caribbean Estates represents some of the nest homes across the Caribbean. As well as selling and renting luxury residences, the company helps find homes for investors and lifestyle purchasers. Chris believes that Barbados in particular, has navigated the recent pandemic exceptionally well and is primed for a good run over the next few years, with a healthy uptick in investment taking place across keynote development projects.
Chris says: “The Welcome Stamp Visa has attracted a lot of new visitors and investors to our shores and invigorated the market. It’s perfect for those that can work remotely and want to live in a warmer climate. Real estate sales and villa rentals have experienced record transactions over the last 12 months, as people have realised the exceptional lifestyle the island offers.”
Chris continues: “There have been 20 transactions completed on the Sandy Lane Estate alone, in the last 16months with the majority of villas being rebuilt or completely renovated. On the beachfront, we’ve seen some high-value transactions ranging from US$10m to U$40m + for some of the island’s trophy properties including Villa Tamarindo on Beachlands (list price US$32m).”
Some of the most highly anticipated tourism projects of the last decade are expected to either begin or be complete over the next year which shows confidence in the island. They include a new private jet facility at the airport, new roads connecting the east side of the island to the airport, a renovated cruise terminal, and waterfront development of restaurants, bars and shops in Bridgetown. New and renovated resorts opening shortly, include Apes Hill with its remodelled 18-hole Ron Kirby designed golf course, plus new hotels by Marriott, Wyndham and Hyatt. Popular restaurants The Cliff and Tides are also under new ownership.
