Do you have any tips for choosing a colour scheme? Does it have to match your room's decor?
With Christmas, in my opinion, absolutely anything goes, as long as it’s festive!
What are some of your favourite Christmas themes and colour combinations?
I’m a maximalist when it comes to Christmas, bring on the classics like red and green with lots of bling. I feel like we (especially us designers) put ourselves under a lot of pressure to curate our living space so they are Instagram worthy and ready at all times. We should be able to hang up our proverbial designer hat at least once a year, put our feet up and just enjoy the festivities!
Should Christmas decorating be confined to the living room? What are some ways one can trick out the rest of the home?
I love Christmas scents, a heady mixture of fresh pine, cinnamon, with a hint of ginger and nutmeg. I like to bring out my Christmas scented candles during the festive season and have them dotted around the house so I can live and breathe Christmas.
What is the trick to styling a Christmas tree like a pro?
One very important trick I learned this year during our Christmas photoshoot was to wrap the lights tightly around the branches to form a good base. I used to just drape it and wrap it around the whole tree which then would get tangled and look messy. The other added benefit of wrapping the lights is that your tree will look at least 30% fuller and bigger!
How does one create a festive table spread which feels different to a regular table setting?
I am not normally into coloured candles but Christmas is one exception for me. Also, you can bring out heavier and warmer fabrics such as wool and velvet onto the table such as tying a velvet ribbon around a napkin instead of a ring to add colour and texture.
