Katharine has created a wonderfully comforting Christmas interior that speaks of a simpler life. The cottage is beautifully decorated and full of candles, natural garlands of ivy, pine and festive greenery from the grounds of her home in Oxfordshire, children’s toys and stones and shells from the surrounding beaches. It is both relaxing and stylishly simple. Luxurious and original elements abound reflecting Katharine’s renowned design sensibilities with a pervading sense of peace and comfort as the main objectives.

Christmas At Twenty Grosvenor Square
I’m a maximalist when it comes to Christmas, bring on the classics like red and green with lots of bling. I feel like we (especially us designers) put ourselves under a lot of pressure to curate our living space so they are Instagram worthy and ready at all times. We should be able to hang up our proverbial designer hat at least once a year, put our feet up and just enjoy the festivities!

Rebecca Snowden
Going for a modern look does not mean letting go of the elements that make Christmas feel like Christmas. Keep hallmarks like the tree and gifts that make the home feel festive and seasonal. It is a balancing act between the fresh and the classic - look for ways to add a contemporary touch without diminishing the festive feel.
“The key here is in restraint,” advises Rebecca. “For instance, candles are a staple of the season, but rather than going all out with white or metallic candles, swap them out for an elegant dark hue. Snowflakes are also a popular choice during Christmas, but a star motif offers an updated take on the look.”

Guide To Decorating For Christmas
The sitting room of this apartment has a very light space featuring a bay window, columns and a classic fire place. This space is traditionally used for the family’s festive dining. The table with a layered setting featuring candles, linen napkins, and crystal vases and glasses, looks solemn and light at the same time. A white freesia bouquet compliments the wintery festive table. Metal napkin rings, white pearls on the pine branches and tall candle holders create a fascinating setting resembling an ice sculpture.
