UK universities are witnessing unprecedented demand as the total number of applicants climbs to 665,070 for the 2025 intake - a significant increase driven largely by international interest.
Among home students, the number of 18-year-olds applying for undergraduate courses hit a record 328,390, up 2.2% from last year. Universities have responded by issuing over two million offers, marking a 3.8% rise compared to 2024.
International applications remain robust, with strong growth from China, Ireland, Nigeria, and the US underscoring the UK's enduring appeal as a global education hub.
Universities are now balancing the challenge of managing rising demand alongside ensuring quality and access for domestic students.
