There's nothing like the impending arrival of spring to get buyers excited about buying a second home overseas. And this year, according to leading Spanish home builder Taylor Wimpey España, buyers are thinking creatively about how they can use their new pad in the sun.

At this time of year, key-ready homes hold particular appeal, with buyers keen to debunk from the UK to warmer climes. Spain and Portugal both attract plenty of interest thanks to their proximity to the UK, abundant sunshine, affordability and outdoor lifestyle. Towards the end of 2021, Portugal's Algarve gained the added cachet of having been crowned 'Europe's leading beach destination' by the World Travel Awards, for the third year in a row. Turismo de Portugal was also voted 'Europe's Leading Tourist Board 2021' – another positive indication that visitors are going to enjoy their time in the Iberian country.
