How did Simone De Gale come about?
The practice was founded in London in 2010, following Simone’s aim to run her own architectural practice and share her vision of design. Heralding from a family of architects and construction professionals, pursuing a career in architecture felt like a natural step for the ambitious designer.
What’s the most satisfying part of fulfilling a commission?
Our practice’s mantra is: ‘We will achieve your vision’. So we listen carefully to what our client wants to achieve and then use our skills, creativity and expertise to surpass their expectations and optimise the value of their assets.
We make a conscious effort to cultivate a transparent and fruitful working relationship with each individual and we only select projects that we feel we can deliver on both creatively and intellectually.
How do you incorporate sustainability into your work?
Namely through the materials we use and from working with creditable organisations who responsibly manage their carbon emissions. We source mainly from local suppliers that are based close to the project, so we’re able to reduce the transportation footprint where possible, as well as investing in local resources, tradesmen and organisations.
Designing with simple geometry in line with our design principles, ensures we develop a proposal which is scientifically sound and utilises the modular or prefabricated aspects of construction, further reducing time on site.
What’s next for you?
We are planning to expand and are currently securing more international projects. The practice has made its mark in Georgia, having already completed a number of schemes and with another 8 in the pipeline. We also working on a twin tower project in Rijeka, Croatia, comprising of 200 luxury apartments overlooking the Adriatic Sea, as well as development opportunities in Ukraine, and a trade mission to Hong Kong.
