The South East has taken over from Central London as the “most challenging” region in the UK to sell a property, according to analysis by specialist data and marketing firm TwentyCi, while Scotland retains its position as the “easiest”.
The team checked multiple criteria to rank the difficulty or ease of selling a property in every UK postcode where more than 250 homes changed hands in the year to 31st March, ranging from speed of sale to how likely it is to have a price reduction.
Currently in the South East, properties are achieving an average of 95.6% of their original asking price which is below the national average of 97%. They are also less likely to sell at all, with only 50% of listed homes going on to complete, compared with 55% nationally. Key blockers include mounting affordability pressures, notably high mortgage rates which are making it harder for buyers to access the market.
