SECURITY MEASURES TOP THE LIST FOR BRITISH SMART HOME INVESTMENTS

14.08.18

Burdened by stress and a lack of time, research shows that British people crave convenience, speed and safety in their home environment, now more than ever before.

Recent findings from ‘Smart Home Week’, found that 43% of Brits now own at least one smart product in their home, and 49% of UK consumers are familiar with the features and benefits of smart home products.

Research from Sellhousefast.uk – sourced by Eureka!, following a survey  of 946 UK households - found the lounge is the room which the majority of homeowner’s (72%) think is most ideal for smart technology, with the kitchen next in line with 53% followed by bedrooms at 34%.

Video doorbells and security systems are the most appealing smart home technology for Brits, with 47% planning to purchase either one or both within the next two years, according to the survey. Smart lights – which can adjust brightness and colour - have also proven popular with increases in sales across the UK over the past 12 months.

When it comes to making a purchase, or get advice about smart home technology, most Brits would opt to do so by directly contacting a smart tech manufacturers like ‘Nest’ or ‘Hive’. Subsequently, 39% of Brits would use an internet search engine such as google to get more information on smart home devices they are interested in.

“The growth of smart home technology over the last few years has been phenomenal,” says Robby Du Toit, Managing Director of Sellhousefast.uk. “Despite Brits being initially sceptical towards the technology, improved understanding and more affordable pricing has given smart devices greater appeal.

“This research certainly shows that Brits are beginning to have a firm grasp of the smart technology they desire and would be willing to actively use in their home. Looking into the future, with the integration of smart home devices expected to become a real incentive for prospective buyers/renters, the technology could play a fundamental role in increasing the overall value of properties.”
