When it comes to interior design, select the right staples and you can elevate a space to pure elegance. Jane Adams, owner of AUTHOR Interiors explains how one chair, one lamp, a rug and a stunning piece of art can revitalise any interior.
Interior spaces can quickly become dated if the ‘look’ is not carefully crafted. The team at AUTHOR Interiors know that all too well, and urge this looking to breathe new life into a tired interior, to consider adding a few, well-chosen new pieces.
AUTHOR sources handmade pieces from talented designers, makers and manufacturers from around the British Isles, and displays them in a series of unique and stunning collections.
With their new ‘Woolf’ collection, AUTHOR have sought to create an interior that is both civilised and timeless, yet stimulating and inspirational.
Owner Jane Adams has chosen a few key pieces from the collection which can be added to an existing scheme, whether it be a contemporary or more traditional space.
LIGHTING
“Our Maud Strut lamp is a centre piece as well as a practical table light. Sculpted and forged by Temple & Ivy in Somerset, this lamp is a wonderfully creative way to animate a space and inject personality into an interior scheme.”
CHAIR
“Our Helm Chair is supremely comfortable, named after its shape which reminds us of helmets and armour used by jousting knights from British Medieval history. Hand made in Edinburgh, its beautiful curved back means a gorgeous look from all angles. The neutral tones of the fabric meanwhile, make it a chair that can sit in any bedroom, study or hall.”
ART
“Add an eye-catching piece of art or sculpture. Harry Morgan’s ‘Enigma’ is a conversation starting show stopper. He uses an ancient Venetian glassblowing technique called ‘murrine’ to create each individual, delicate thread of glass that remarkably holds the weight of the concrete it is merged to, challenging the fragile connotations usually pertaining to glass. A truly unique piece to be exhibited elegantly.”
RUG
“This Wendy Morrison hand-tufted wool rug is in a beautifully subtle and asymmetrical design. Its non-imposing and sophisticated tones, allow it to be paired with almost any coloured furniture or accessory in your home. Perfect for a bedroom or lounge area which has lighter use, or one which doesn’t have high traffic or grubby shoes or paws passing through.”
